had M&PP paper earlier yesterday apparently, then shifa called me and asked me to go main library to watch Michael Moore's bowling for columbine, which is a documentary on americans' gun toting culture, pretty amazing and also damn funny in a way. The show was about how compared globally, americans shoot each other alot more than the rest of the world, then they were analysing for causes, the administration, the media, violent films, their history of cowboys and reds, annnnnnnd.... Marilyn Manson.

Whoa, had to admit before today i didn't really think much of him, supposedly satanic songs and all, but in the show when Michael Moore (the filmmaker) interviewed him he seemed surprisingly normal and mature by conventional standards, especially when he was asked what he would like to say to a couple of kids involved in a high school shooting. His answer was, to paraphrase, not to say a word at all, instead listen to what they have to say, which nobody gave them a chance to.
Now i respect marilyn manson... anyway, go watch the show if you haven't already. huge backlash from US citizens all over forums and shit i think... pro and anti gun peeps, arguing for their rights to keep guns, and stricter gun control laws.

Personally, while i can sorta understand the various viewpoints of gun proponents, protection in a high crime rate area, constitutional or state rights, 2nd amendment, and my favourite, between needs and wants, it's up to them what they want to own, i.e. house, cars, and by the same token, guns. Individual determines his own wants for self-actualization. you know what you want, go for it. only the strong survive.

On the flip side, IMHO, it's partially because the media perpetuates alot of violence and crime i guess, so people get desensitized, numbed to it, and take action to prevent the same thing from happening to them, enter guns under the pillow syndrome. in the show, stark contrast man. US media shows murders, robberies, assaults on the news daily, breaking regular programming sometimes, the canadian news? wahahahahaha. Breaking news: New speedbumps! LOL. but they don't lock their doors at night? that's where i want to retire or live one day...

Another reason would be the gov and it's policies. the current administration's tendency to 'help keep the peace' everywhere with the strong arm of military technological superiority and the presence of nuclear weapons. Now there's a good analogy, the nukes are agreed to be dangerous, disarmament a dream held by many. Think about this. guns and nukes. people and countries. everyone has 'em, but no one really wants to have to use them, but because your enemy may or may not have them, you gotta keep yours ready.

Now a central tenet of the show is the difficulty in exercising gun control, and a plea to disarm and get rid of your guns is going to be heeded by NOBODY. it's the same thing, while nuclear holocaust is something no one really wants, WMDs have to be maintained for retaliation purposes, it's a matter of self-defence thru the threat of massive, albeit mutual destruction. Don't shoot/nuke me or i shoot/nuke you back.

But i think sooner or later the US' highhanded ways of solving political issues, as a 'big brother' sort of thing is going to backfire, people adapt to their national culture, become like their country. If they are showing that they use violence and money to solve problems (think sanctioned assasinations and secret funding of foreign armies), then naturally their people will grow to think of that as the most effective way, and bowling for columbine reflects that.

(I put the US as US because then it won't show up on keyword searches, learnt from Ms. KWA! HAHAHAHAHHA, cos' i dowan ISD or something tagging me as communistic or a political dissident)

Anyhoo, they're probably going to end up as a militant state, owned by fiscal powers, such as financial institutions and big corporate conglomerates with hefty foreign assets, backing the gold standard all the way, what with dollar devaluation. GOLD is...tangible, it inspires trust, it lasts, not to mention how little of it there seems to be.

They'll probably have the military as enforcers, because an army needs moolah to work. who's to say that isn't already starting to happen? i mean the gov needs dough too right (esp. since the avg. S2S missle costs over 500k a pop)? all the big bucks come in thru corporate funding, not for nothing is sponsorship (M&PP wahahahah), so what are they getting for their muhnee?

tax concessions? legal benefits for big companies? favourable new bills passed? it's an investment! the gov can really help you grow as a company, building permits, land purchases, stuff. $$ helps. it's like they say, you gotta spend it to make it.

k i think i'll stop about this here. don't want to get taken as a radical or left-winger. Comments pls post on the tagboard or e-mail me!!! but i hate talkin abt serious stuff usually, dunno y write so much crap today. DISCLAIMER: everything here is my own opinion, possibly derived from different sources, but do not reflect a political representation in anyway so don't buttfcuk me abt anything aye?

Moving on, Shifa and I then trooped our way down to orchard to meet the '03 fcukers, Jethro, Clarence and Daniel. Played LAN for about half an hour when there was a blackout, followed by a walkout, which is like abit mean cos' the poor auntie there very pek chek and looked very flustered trying to appease a whole bunch of caucasian kids.

Laters, jethro succinctly put it this way, she so stressed, better not to disturb her, let her concentrate. What the fcuk man. hahahahaha. anyway, let me tell you a little more about jethro, who's a bloody lameass cockhead joker, a typical conversation that went on earlier during dinner:

Shifa: Eh, 快点去叫leh.

Jethro: leh.

Shifa & I: *Momentarily stunned* *Then start laughing as we get it*

Me: Okay lah, 你们先去叫lah.

Jethro: lah.

Can really smack his face man. furthermore, earlier on when we were at the cybercafe, getting our coms, we were discussing what to order from the snack bar.

Cybercafe lady: *after telling us our com numbers and stuff, overhearing us* 你们想叫什么?

Fcukhead Jethro: ÎÒ叫Jethro, ÕâÊÇChris, ÄÇÊÇShifa.

The three of us, shifa, jethro and i finally made our way to dhoby ghaut to meet up with my class guys, who had been playing LAN right after the paper, which means 5 freakin' hours!! that's nuts man, the last time i played anywhere near that length of time, i was in sec 3. Crazy.

When we got there, the guys were already in the process of leaving in drips and draps (is there such a term?) so three of us just chiong battlefield 1942 like mad for a few maps, shifa being the WWII nut he is, enjoyed it so much he didn't want to try desert combat...

After playing a couple of hours, we went to paradiz center for dinner and a little arcade cos' there is buy 1 credit get 1 free. so not a bad deal. Talked cock with the two of them for quite a while before heading home.

On the bus bumped into hazlinda also on the way home...hahahaha coincidence, think she has a damn cute voice. Bought a big gulp from the new 7-11 near my house, FINALLY there's a 7-11 here that i can walk to, went home and slept.
Woke up about 4 plus and you now see the results of my hunger-induced insomnia.
